Karisa’s a good agency to pick up shifts with because they get to know you as a person as well as an employee- they keep in mind other commitments you have, your lifestyle & then find shifts that work for you. You can decline a shift without feeling pressure or being hounded.

Everyone in the office are honest and approachable- I truly can’t praise Dan enough, he offers solutions to any questions I have and really does know how to support nurses. One time that stands out to me was that I chose to work overtime on a shift as cover hadn’t arrived, Dan kindly checked in on me to make sure I had food and a phone charger while waiting for cover as it took quite a while and I’d just done a 12hr shift. I was almost shocked by that, as when I first became an agency nurse I assumed those in the office simply booked shifts, but I can hand on heart say Dan and all those in the office do what they can to support their employees because they care. It’s reassuring to know they’re there on the other end of the phone to help if you need it, or even just some guidance.

Prab remembers details well and is always there to lend an ear. She’s very clear on what shifts have been booked and if there’s an answer she doesn’t know, she’ll find it out and get back to you within five minutes. When I had to isolate due to Covid a while ago I felt supported by Karisa- they arranged annual leave for me so I didn’t have to worry about finances, they checked in on me to make sure I was okay, and they focused on lining up shifts for me after my isolation period. That gave me peace of mind.

I recently revalidated and Dan made it all super simple, it was something that I saw as being daunting but honestly I wish I hadn’t overthought it so much. Karisa provided training to ensure I had enough hours under my belt, they even reached out to home managers to ensure I had enough feedback.

I chose to become an agency nurse due to having a partner in the military & my friends live far away from me, so being able to work hard knowing I will get to spend time with friends and family is a breath of fresh air. If you’re like me and struggle with going from days to nights, that’s not something that is pushed on you at Karisa. I picked Karisa by asking a carer who they were employed through, I’m glad I asked that carer that day!

If you’re after an agency who get to know your lifestyle, won’t pressure you to pick up shifts that you can’t do and are an approachable team then I’d go for Karissa. Agencies on paper seem similar, but with how polite, reasonable and rational the team are at Karisa, I’ve stayed with them a year on 👍

The hiring process was pretty easy and straight forward , able to get shifts for when I need them and I’m able to work about my schedule and flexibility , the bookings team are very good at sorting shifts out for you and if you ask for any additional hours if they have them they let you know 100% and don’t leave it until last minute unlike some places , lady called Prab is ever so lovely and one of the nicest people I have met , I haven’t worked for karisa for a very long time but whilst I am I am enjoying it very much 💜

I worked for Karisa when it was 24/7 Professional Health. It was my first agency and they got me loads of shifts. It was a shame though, that when the pandemic hit, I was being forced into work by my then-shift manager, being told if I didn't travel hours out of my way (seven round bus trip to be precise) I wouldn't get the shifts I enjoy and I would be badgered by texts at 2am to pick up a shift at 7.30am. They taught me a lot about professionalism - they also got me working in a sector that I'm happily working in 18 months later. Definitely glad I left them after hearing negative comments from agency workers I come across.
