Excellent personal service is one of the many reasons why pet owners looking for trusted vets in Walsall choose 387 Veterinary Centre, and why most new clients come to the practice through personal recommendation. A multi-award-winning veterinary practice, 387 Vets were named ‘Vets of the Year’ five years in a row in thebestof's testimonial-driven competition to find the UK's best-loved local businesses.
The practice also holds an Outstanding Client Service Award from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, current until 2027, and remains the only veterinary practice in the 20-year history of the prestigious Petplan Veterinary Awards to win three of the five major awards on the same night for going above and beyond in their daily work.
At 387 Vets, it's very much the people who make the practice. The 30-strong team includes vets with advanced postgraduate qualifications in small animal medicine, small animal surgery, feline practice and small animal dentistry, alongside nurses with additional certificates in areas including mobility, nutrition and pet behaviour. The practice continually invests in developing services, standards and clinical expertise to deliver better diagnostics, tailored treatment plans and greater peace of mind for pet owners.
387 Vets recognises that continuity of care really matters, which is why clients can choose to see the same vet whenever possible. All consultations are 15 minutes long, rather than the 10 minutes offered at many practices, giving the team more time to thoroughly assess pets and build lasting relationships with owners. There is also plenty of flexibility around appointment times to suit busy lifestyles.
The team understands that visiting the vet can be stressful for some pets. The practice has held Gold Cat Friendly Clinic accreditation from International Cat Care since 2016, recognising the protocols and facilities in place to minimise feline stress.
In 2021, the practice opened the interconnecting West Midlands Cat Clinic, a dedicated cat-only veterinary facility offering a completely feline-focused experience. With no barking dogs and purpose-designed surroundings, it remains unique within the local area.
387 Vets also became an early adopter of Dog Friendly Clinic accreditation in 2024 under the framework developed by Dogs Trust and the British Veterinary Behaviour Association. This accreditation supports practices in meeting the behavioural and emotional needs of canine patients.
Initiatives introduced include behavioural enrichment products, supportive mats for older dogs, towels for wet pets, water bowls at varying heights and plenty of treats for positive reinforcement. Significant investment in team training also helps ensure veterinary visits are as positive and stress-free as possible.
Investing in its team is a key part of the practice's success. A happy, motivated workforce helps create positive experiences for both clients and pets.
387 Veterinary Centre has been Investors in People accredited since 2013 and became the first veterinary practice in the UK to achieve Investors in People Platinum status in 2017. This accreditation has been retained through subsequent assessments and remains valid until 2027.
In 2025, the practice won the British Veterinary Association's Wellbeing Award for practices with more than 25 employees. During the same year, the practice's directors received a Team Dynamics Award from Vet Dynamics for their commitment to workplace wellbeing, culture and staff development.
The practice is proud of its strong employee retention record, helping provide consistency and familiarity for clients and their pets.
Since launching in 2007, 387 Vets has maintained strong links with the local community throughout Walsall, Great Wyrley and the wider West Midlands.
As a registered veterinary nurse training practice, the team supports student nurses, school pupils, mature learners and veterinary students considering careers within the profession. The practice regularly exhibits at community events, writes pet health articles, raises funds for charities and runs an annual "Give a Pet a Christmas Dinner" campaign supporting animals in shelters.
Environmental responsibility is also important to the practice. Its dedicated Eco Team continually reviews environmental impact and champions sustainable improvements, while initiatives such as free sunflower seed giveaways encourage pollinator-friendly planting within the community.
387 Veterinary Centre holds Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons accreditation in recognition of its high professional standards and commitment to exceptional pet care.
The bright, spacious facilities include:
• Two sterile operating theatres
• Dedicated dental operating suite
• Diagnostics suite
• Large preparation area
• Isolation facilities
• Modern kennelling accommodation
• Separate cat ward meeting International Society of Feline Medicine standards
All X-rays and ultrasound equipment are digital, including advanced digital dental imaging that helps identify dental issues accurately and efficiently. Recent investment in in-house blood analysers and diagnostic equipment allows the team to perform more testing on site, providing faster results for pet owners.
The practice also offers laser therapy for pain management and wound healing, cryosurgery for wart and skin tag removal, and key hole spays alongside traditional neutering procedures.
387 Veterinary Centre has the expertise and facilities to manage most orthopaedic procedures, medical referral cases, advanced dentistry and routine veterinary treatments in-house.
The practice works hard to make every visit comfortable for pets and owners alike.
Public areas within both 387 Veterinary Centre and the West Midlands Cat Clinic are air conditioned. Cat owners can relax in the calm environment of the dedicated cat clinic, complete with sofas and specially designed cat carrier tables, while other pet owners can wait comfortably in partitioned bays within the main reception area.
For pets that may feel more comfortable outside, the team is happy to meet owners at their vehicles when required.
A well-lit 13-space car park is available on site, including disabled parking spaces located directly outside reception.
Conveniently located on the A34 between Bloxwich and Cannock, the practice is easily accessible for pet owners across Walsall, Great Wyrley, Bloxwich, Cannock and the surrounding areas.
