My wife recently exchanged her old Nokia Mobile Telephone for a Samsung Smartphone and visited the mobile phone shop with whom her old contract had been held, to exchange the Sim card and set up a new contract. Apart from transferring the Sim card, confirming that it might take up to 24 hours for "contacts" to transfer, and setting up the contract, no other help or advice was forthcoming on how to use what was, in my wife's case, a totally different piece of equipment. Lee has been to our house on several occasions over the last few years, to help support and advise us on the use of our laptops and on one such occasion recently, we commented on our intention to purchase a Smartphone. He immediately offered to provide us with any help and support which we may require, at the appropriate time. We took Lee up on his offer this afternoon, and he took us both through the basics of setting up the Smartphone, restoring the contacts list, which contrary to the mobile phone shop "expert" had not "automatically transferred", covered the basics of making & receiving calls/texts etc, changing settings, application of The Apps, security and connectivity issues e.g with our in-house' WiFi, plus setting up a new Google Account and using the Internet. Although both my wife and I regularly use laptops, we have never had "Tablets" or, previously a Smartphone. When making the transition from a basic mobile to a Smartphone some help is required particularly, if like us, (and in the midst of a Lockdown), we don't have access to a friendly teenager! Lee's clear and detailed explanation on the use of my wife's new Samsung phone was just superb and was in marked contrast to the complete absence of any help, advice or information from the gentleman in the mobile phone shop. Prior to Lee's arrival we had spent the last 24 hours trying to get to grips with the new phone and work out why we had appeared to have lost all our "contacts". We needn't have worried, because we knew someone who could always be relied upon to not only "be there", but also help us through our difficulties. We both appreciate that "mobile phone coaching" may not be what Lee is best known for, but who knows this may be the start of an additional new venture for him! Either way, we will always be extremely grateful for his help today.
