What a difference twelve months has made in the fortunes of Salford Rugby League Football Club, or as we are now rightly known Salford Red Devils.
Christmas is a time for joy, a wonderful tradition that is enjoyed by everyone in the family – even those grumpy members secretly look forward to Christmas! But sometimes families are unable to enjoy this time of the year, and go hungry.
A few weeks back, I wrote a blog about the demolition of Salford’s iconic blue cranes that have populated our skyline for years. It was a sad and somber occasion as an important part of Salford’s history was about to be destroyed. They are now gone, but not forgotten.
I know it is November and you might be getting ever so slightly fed up of people going on about Christmas as if it were mid December, but just hear me out. The event I want to tell you about is so wonderful and magical that I want to give you plenty of notice to clear your whole schedule!
For college students, it is that time of the year when you must start getting serious about your university choices. It is a big and life changing decision – Where do you want to go? What course do you want to do? Are you making the right decision?
The opening of MediaCityUK has worked wonders for the Salford Quays and local people. It is one of many staples of a wonderfully regenerated area that seemed to have died when the docks closed in the 1982. Not only has MediaCityUK breathed new life but it has also provided ample work opportunities for the people of Salford.
Business networking is important to the success of your local business – there is no getting around it. The activity offers and provides a wealth of business partners and opportunities that help your business evolve and grow. Business networking is a fantastic activity but how do you get started?
Bonfire Night is literally just around the corner. It is so close that you can almost smell the smoke and hear the pop of the fireworks! Going to the Pantomime, as a child, is the best signifier of a Christmas that is just around the corner. School is finished for a few weeks, they have written their letters (or emails) to Santa and all that is left to do is wait for that special day. What is better at getting you in the Christmas spirit and killing some time for the kids than a Christmas Pantomime!?
There is no denying that the redevelopment of Salford Quays has reaped endless benefits for Salford and the local people. The introduction of the BBC and ITV has injected employment into a run-down area – making Salford a much more attractive prospect to the rest of the UK.
