What Can You Spare This Christmas?

Christmas is a time for joy, a wonderful tradition that is enjoyed by everyone in the family – even those grumpy members secretly look forward to Christmas! But sometimes families are unable to enjoy this time of the year, and go hungry.

It breaks my heart to think of families going hungry over Christmas, and in these hard financial times, this isn’t as rare as it should be. Just looking for a decent meal and a full stomach isn’t much to ask for and some Eccles Councillors are looking to help with Eccles Giving Day 2.

You may have heard about, or been involved with, the first Eccles Giving Day back in the warmth of July.  On this day, A group of Eccles Councillors are looking to raise money, in anyway they can, to donate to local food banks – which will help pay for food packages for hungry families.

The first Eccles Giving Day was a huge success raising over £2,300 worth of food. You can help replicate this success in time for families this Christmas by donating anything you can spare – from baby clothes to toys.

If you could collect anything you can spare, and then on 7th December just call 07880790182 or email councilor.pwheeler@salford.gov.uk between 10am and 2pm – and they will pick up your donation ready to give to the food banks.

Or alternatively, drop off your donation at The Mustard Tree, 15, The Eccles Precinct.

Thank you.
