Walsall Adult and Community College (WACC) is Ofsted ‘Outstanding. It supports Walsal residents and businesses in their learning, training and workforce development needs.
The College is based in two centres in Walsall. The Hawbush Centre on Beeches Rd, Leamore and the Whitehall Centre on Weston St, Caldmore. They also provide learning in over 40 venues across the borough and on company premises.
The College employs around 200 staff who are highly experienced and professional members of the Institute for Learning. They serve 5,000 learners and over 100 companies each year.
WACC have a well equipped, friendly, purposeful environment for learning. They also have pleasant gardens and allotments on their Hawbush site designed and tended by their learners with learning difficulties and disabilities. The College are committed to the environment and do all they can to ensure they use resources responsibly to preserve the planet for generations to come.
The college was inspected by Ofsted in 2012 and was graded ‘Outstanding’. They also achieved the Matrix standard for the quality of their information, advice, guidance and support to learners. WACC believe that people who are active learners remain healthier for longer, and people who gain qualifications have greater earning power. Companies that are learning organisations with well developed customer service and leadership and management skills, are more sustainable and more resilient to market fluctuations and change.
The College offers a wide curriculum to support individuals and companies including Maths and English, Accountancy, ICT for personal and business, Traineeships, Study
Programmes and Apprenticeships to help get young people into work, Hospitality and Catering, Construction and Horticulture, Childcare, Business Admin, Enterprise skills, Employment skills, ESOL and much, much more.
The team also believe learning is for leisure, promoting social interaction and hobbies that can be developed into successful businesses so they have a vast range of ten week courses in subjects such as Art and Craft, Flower Arranging, Sewing and Tailoring, Languages and many more.
Their courses are available during the day, during the evening and on weekends. WACC are government funded so many of their courses carry a government subsidy which keeps their charges low.
WACC listen and respond to customers and design courses to meet demand where this is sufficient to ensure viability.
