We’ve all been there, where we’ve got ourselves settled into our seats, opened our book and suddenly been hit in the face as the seat in front comes flying back.
It’s the most frustrating thing isn’t it? Aeroplanes barely have enough space but when the person in front decides it’s time to relax, you’re suddenly nose to nose with your tray table.
So it’s not surprising that it makes some passengers' blood boil… so much so that a recent US flight had to be diverted as a heated argument broke out!
A well experienced passenger must have had enough of recliners and so he used plastic clips called the “Knee Defender” to prevent any intrusion on his space. However, the passenger in front was the reclining kind and after asking him to remove the clips, he threw a glass of water over the guy!
Now I don’t know about you, but I’m on the side of the “Knee Defender”. Reclining seats mean that you can’t read properly, you can’t sit properly; in fact you can’t do anything! That’s why some flights like Ryanair have completely removed the option of reclining to prevent arguments breaking out.
What do you think? Would you like to fly in a plane where the seats did not recline? Personally I think this would be fine for short flights of less than a couple of hours but not so good for long haul.
PS – I’ve heard rumours that one guy was so frustrated with a reclining passenger, he stabbed his hand with a fork!
