The festive season is upon us once more and here at thebestof Jersey we have been compiling a wide range of local events for our What's On guide to keep you informed. So, whether you celebrate Christmas or not, allow us to steer you through the wide range of fun local events over the festive season in this blog, with links to our events section in case some of these events catch your eye.
As a long time (30 years+) wearer of a moustache I am pleased to see that they are making a bit of a comeback, especially as gents are being encouraged to grow them for charity! November is ‘Mo’ month raising funds and awareness of prostate cancer. How many Jersey men can grow a decent moustache in a month?
In 2013 Remembrance Day falls on Sunday 10th November and in the weeks leading up to that date we will all have the opportunity to support the Poppy Appeal, this is an incredibly worth while appeal and the people of Jersey always donate generously. Let’s see if we can make 2013 a record!
Halloween Events in Jersey
Halloween Events in Jersey
2013 is flying by and with summer now a distant memory we have Halloween to look forward to. I have already identified some good events being held in Jersey where proceeds are going to local charities but please let me know if you know of any others that should be added to our Events page.
Rebecca Baudains was partially paralysed following a horse riding accident in 1995 during a polo match and has since been confined to a wheel chair. This year she is one of a five person team taking part in the Jersey Marathon and Rebecca is raising funds for Unite 2 Fight Paralysis, please support her and donate generously.
The Itex-Rotary walk is a prime example of how many Jersey people are prepared to both take up a demanding personal challenge and also strive to raise money for charity. I hope that everyone involved, both organisers, helpers and walkers have a great day.
As you may be aware' thebestof' Jersey relies on local people to tell us about the special local businesses that they know well and trust to always go that extra mile for their customers. To encourage people to tell us about the businesses that they love I will be making a donation to Hospice for each recommendation I receive.
Update from Emily
Update from Emily
This is a short update from Emily on her progress in training and fund raising for the The Bedell China Challenge 2013 in support of Jersey Hospice. She is taking part in this event which takes place in September, please support her in her fund raising efforts.
Hello, my name is Emily Le Beuvant and I like to set myself a challenge every now and again, with this year being no exception. So I have decided that my bicycle will become my new best friend and I have officially signed up for the Bedell Cycle challenge in aid of Jersey Hospice Care and I am asking local people to show their support, while donations are my ultimate objective you can help me by just ‘liking’ and sharing this post.
While March may seem a long way off at the moment and undoubtedly most people are thinking more of the Christmas and New Year celebrations now is a good time to organise your team and book for the 2013 Swimarathon. What better way to raise funds for local charities, get fit and lose any of the excess pounds gained over the Festive Season?
