It is interesting how the restaurant scene has changed in Jersey in recent years, the old traditional ‘restaurant’ particularly those relying on lunch time ‘expense account’ customers have been suffering and we have seen some notable departures from the local restaurant scene, as an example the long standing Bistro Central. On the other hand pub food restaurants generally seem to be doing well.
People are clearly being circumspect on how they spend their money and as the number of coffee shops in town grows traditional restaurants seem to be getting less and less busy.
The continuing decrease in tourism numbers is also having an obvious impact on local restaurants as are there clearly fewer visitors around, looking for a nice meal, than used to be the case a few years ago.
The exception to this downwards trend is with pub food and the more casual, less expensive end of the restaurant market which seems to be doing quite well.
With all these changes it is clear that there are still some great places to eat that serve quality ingredients that are well cooked and where the menu is reasonably priced. However there are still some restaurants/pubs where you are likely to leave disappointed after your meal.
We want to be able to tell both locals and visitors about those ‘great’ restaurants, such as The Victoria in the Valley that was the most loved business in Jersey last year and where we are consistently receiving positive customer feedback.
Please tell us about your favourite Jersey restaurant and why you love them, we greatly value your opinion
