Good to see Jersey tourism and leisure based industries continuing to invest for the future.

Firstly, well done to all at the Grand Hotel for receiving their fifth star from the AA! Following recent inspections by the AA, the Grand have become only the second hotel in Jersey to be awarded the much coveted accolade of five stars and are the only hotel in St. Helier to have five stars. Overall I believe approx £15m has been spent to achieve this result which clearly shows that the owners of the Grand believe that the Jersey market has the potential to provide a return on this investment.

The Liberation Group is another organisation investing in their business, they own 44 pubs and bars in Jersey and their largest single investment to date is about to start in St Helier. Friday’s in Halkett Place is getting a £350,000 makeover that will transform the interior and façade. It will reopen as The Halkett Bar and Eating House in June, more details have not yet been disclosed.

This is in addition to £50,000 which has been spent on re-decorating  Dix Neuf in Halkett Street and £64,000 spent on the Post Horn to refurbish the ground floor bar and first floor function room of this popular community meeting place and pub.

I should also mention  the Rozel Bay Inn which the Group acquired  in January,  the tenant here is Justin Pledger, who also  runs the very popular Vic in the Valley and I know that he and his team are working hard to make the Rozel Bay a great place to eat and socialise. I am meeting Justin later this week and hope to add the Rozel Bay as a featured business shortly.
