Flight delays due to bad weather, fog, snow etc we are used to, disruption caused by industrial action by airline workers we can cope with, even the occasional terrorist scare does not keep us from flying for long. So, after what seems like an age, UK airports are re-opening and flights are moving, however how long will it take to get back to normal and how long will those thousands of people stranded abroad, particularly in long haul destinations, have to wait to get home? My understanding is that many people stuck in long haul destinations are being advised that it will be into May before they can expect to get back!!
Yesterday the Jersey Airport arrivals & departure boards indicated that many flights were still cancelled, particularly those scheduled for the earlier part of the day, however today things are looking much better . This is good news for me personally as I am flying out today to be at the annual ‘thebestof’ Conference being held in Coventry this Friday, I have now checked in so it looks like I have been lucky.
So it's getting better for those booked to fly from now on will get away, but let's spare a thought for those still stranded somewhere thousands of miles from home with little money facing the prospect of delays of a week + before you will get back.
