However, with the saying "all publicity is good publicity" one of the most popular mantras in marketing, why is it that a major marketing mishap is the kiss of death for some businesses whilst others are carried on the wave of success? How many people for example remember the huge oil spill caused by BP in 2010? Yet how many people still buy fuel from them? BP are continuing to succeed despite the storm of social upset in 2010.
