Enjoy creative hair but avoid the bonkers styles paraded at the World Cup with the help of Avant Garde in Haverhill

I know, I know - for England, the World Cup dream is over. And the last thing I want to do is to rub that fact in by talking about poor performances, overpaid footballers yada yada yada.

However, over the past week or so, I’ve done a little World Cup research. Nothing to do with football stats mind - I was interested to see what some the highest paid sportsmen in the world can buy in the way of style – and in particular, hairstyle.

And said research has led me to the conclusion that either these guys aren’t as well paid as I thought, or that no amount of money can buy style (unless of course you’re Wayne Rooney, in which case money buys actual hair...)

This year's parade of bonkers barnets includes the Leo Sayer tribute (David Luiz, Brazil), dreadlocks that should be renamed deadlocks (Kyle Beckerham, USA) the unfeasibly high stegosaurus lookalike (Stephan El Shaaraway, Italy) and an ever increasing number of 'gelled-to-within-an-inch-of-their-lives', suave (apparently) Clark Kent wannabes led from the front by Christiano Ronaldo (Portugal or Krypton?) and his ego.

Ok, so maybe I’m being a little harsh (I’m not...) but for all their wealth, a lot of these guys should maybe consider a visit to their nearest Vidal Sassoon salon the minute the tournament is over. And if any of them should be passing through Haverhill, then they’re in luck.

Step forward Westley Hellen of Avant Garde Hair Salon in Haverhill, who, whilst embracing and encouraging his customers’ right to individuality, has the talent and creativity to ensure that individuality is accompanied by a touch of class!

As a Vidal Sassoon trained stylist Westley knows the essential elements that go into creating a unique yet wearable style, and the most important of these is the cut.

Westley will always discuss your lifestyle, how your hair needs to work for you, retaining its style no matter what you put it through (in fact your style would probably survive 90 minutes on the pitch with far more panache than most of those World Cup footballers!)

When you go to a Sassoon salon like Avant Garde you can expect that little bit more - the best of the best and the most up-to-date, cutting edge techniques in hairdressing.

Bi-Couture

Vidal Sassoon launches new styles each season, with Bi-Couture being the key look for Spring Summer 2014.

Bi-Couture is a fusion of styles resulting in classically executed looks, a mix of sculptural shapes contrasting with ‘candyfloss textures and dishevelled elegance.’ Styles are enhanced and accented with inspired use of both nature’s colours and those on the artists palette.

Vidal Sassoon partner only with independent, ambitious and progressive salons committed to excellence in cut and colour. Avant Garde is certainly that and more, with Westley ensuring that within the sophisticated yet relaxed surroundings of his boutique salon, each and every customer receives the highest level of service, style and hairdressing experience.

So forget the mohawks, the afros and the bizarre yellow braids that these sporting heroes consider to be their crowning glory. For individuality with wearability, and a classy cut that doesn’t require a footballer’s salary to achieve, put your hair in the hands of Avant Garde in Haverhill.
