THURLOW NUNN LEAGUE PREMIER DIVISION

HAVERHILL ROVERS 0   THETFORD TOWN 4

A very young Haverhill side fought hard in this fixture but a combination of bad luck and inexperience meant that Thetford took home all three points.

The hosts through they’d taken the lead on 34 minutes but Jess Luff’s header was disallowed for offside; 26 seconds later Thetford were ahead themselves thanks to Shane Leech’s 25 yard effort that got past goalkeeper James Philp and into the Haverhill net.

Shaun Hunsdon’s header from a corner on 45 minutes gave the away side a 2-0 lead, something that looked all that much more difficult to overcome when home midfielder Will Gardner was sent off in the 63rd minute for violent conduct.

The score was 3-0 on 73 minutes, Marcus Hunt adjudged to have committed an offence in the penalty area and Hundson scored his second from the penalty spot, Leech netting his second goal of the afternoon two minutes later when he was unmarked 25 yards out and chipped the ball over the advanced Philp with a volley from just inside the area.

ROVERS : Philp, Howard, Burr, Gardner, Luff, Baker (Claydon, 86), Clarke, Hunt, Jebb (Easton-Mulcare, 85), Healey, Haines (Bailey, 46).
