Helium – Don’t be a sucker

I don’t use helium in my balloon entertainment business. It’s becoming expensive and it is a non-renewable gas. It is also needed for such important things in the medical world, like MRI scanners as a cooling mechanism. But wait – it’s fun! When inhaled your voice changes to a high pitch. And it is hilarious.

Or is it...well actually it is very dangerous.

Helium is not poisonous, not inflammable or dangerous in anyway. Except that for humans it is an asphyxiator – it replaces the oxygen you breathe and need to live and suffocates you. Let me say that again – it replaces oxygen in your body and can kill you. Your body does not know the difference between helium and oxygen.

There have been several reported deaths, stays in hospital and in my research for this blog it is becoming a method of suicide too. Check these articles out here https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-11810372

You don’t die because of the helium, rather because the lack of oxygen when you breathe in the helium. As you inhale in a balloon filled with this fun gas, you are not breathing in any oxygen, which your cells need – usually we get this from the air we breathe.

Please leave helium out of your mouth and in the balloons. Better still, get a professional balloon entertainer to help create wonderful memories, brilliant smiles & fantastic photos with award winning balloon entertainment at all kinds of celebratory life-affirming events. www.DannyTheIdiot.com
