Bolton Society for Blind People are a local charity who work with blind and partially sighted people across Bolton to provide them with support, advice and guidance in their daily lives. There is no charge for people to use BSBP’S service, but they need funds to run their events and facilities throughout the year.

Now is the time to join their monthly prize draw for September 2013-August 2014. It’s only £12 a year, which works out at only £1 a month and you’ll be entered into the draw to win some great prizes, including £50 at the end of the month.

Every £12 raised will be put to good use. It will help develop BSBP’s befriending service, where BSBP’s volunteers visit their members each week and support them in their daily life through friendly chats, assistance with getting out and about and much more. There are sadly many people who could benefit from BSBP’s service who don’t have access to this befriending service at the moment, but if BSBP raise enough funds this could all change.

Other projects the monthly prize draw supports include the arts and crafts afternoons, day trips, afternoon tea and other learning opportunities.

It’s really easy to become a member of BSBP. You can complete a form on the BSBP website and then you’ll receive confirmation of your new membership. Winners are announced on BSBP’s newsletter, their website and we’ll post it on our bestof Bolton site too.

For more information on any of BSBP’S service or if you are interested in becoming a volunteer, contact them on 01204 337896.
