When I first qualified, I worked at a clinic in Wilmslow where the lead osteopath was also someone who assessed people who appealed against their rejected applications to be osteopaths. He was very hot on the legal side, note-keeping and accurate diagnosis of patients.
One morning I turned up to the practice to find that he had slipped over at Jodrell Bank and strained his lower back.
He asked me to give him a treatment and I thought to myself:
"I'd better give it a jolly good twist to make sure I sort him out properly."
As he jumped up off the treatment table, he exclaimed that he would never have given such a confident treatment so early in his career.
That gave me a lot of self belief. To have the principal give me such an endorsement was gratifying and set me up, early in my career to have confidence in what I do.
I've been working in Bolton for over 17 years. In that time, I've seen thousands of people, most of which, I've been able to help in some way.
It sounds like a brag, but yes, after almost 18 years as an osteopath, I do feel like I know what I'm doing and have become pretty good at my job.
It was nice this year to have that reinforced by winning the "Best In Category" award following so many positive five star reviews.
I love my job and love to help people recover from their aches and pains so, if you're human and you hurt... I can probably help, as can my associates.
