It is rather pleasing to find a great traditional English pub that is full of charm and can boast an excellent Bar and Grill.

Situated in Westhoughton, The Waggon and Horses is warm and friendly, and full of character. With its warm wooden floors, spacious layout and nice light airy rooms, this truly is a great place to visit. There is a pleasant patio with paved surfaces and elegant floral displays making a lovely place for a bite to eat or a drink in the warmer weather, plus there is a play are so that whilst the adults are enjoying their food and drink the youngster can play safely within sight of the adults.

Being a Traditional Public House in origin The Wagon and Horses has a nice bar. Cask ales are brewed, not manufactured, and have a range of flavours that is not experienced with other ales, as The Wagon and Horses changes its cask beers regularly there is always something new to try. The Wagon and Horses is proud of its beers, and in addition has a good cellar offering plenty of choice of wines to go with whatever you choose to eat, from a snack to a substantial dinner. A brandy to follow? Why not? There is, as one would expect, a superb range of spirits too; cognac, scotch and a great deal more.

The delightful restaurant offers full waiter service, it is comfortable and set for a pleasant dining experience. Being a Traditional English venue The Wagon and Horses offers Traditional English fare, with a few notable additions. The food is prepared with loving care by chefs who would rather produce high quality food than offer a rush job, fast foods are fine in their place, but The Wagon and Horses prefer a more traditionally prepared menu using the finest locally sourced fresh produce.

Fare in the restaurant ranges from, hand battered cod, slow braised lamb shoulder, home-made Lancashire cheese and onion pie, to other rich and sumptuous main courses to make the mouth water. There are nibbles, starters galore and of course puddings to die for.

People with special dietary requirements are catered for with many vegetarian dishes, gluten free dishes, and alternatives are available in each case.

The Wagon and Horses, is a family friendly pub with fine Bar and Grill, and has a fast growing reputation for top quality food and drinks. Being a ‘local’ for many people there is even a Quiz night for all to enjoy.

The Wagon and Horses is a busy venue, and whilst they will always try to fit diners in it is a good idea to call and book a table to avoid disappointment, if there are special requirements this is a good opportunity to let them know, especially if you are planning a large party or celebration.
