Jim of JKT Design, one of our bestof Bolton members, is the Community Service Chairman of the Turton Rotary Club. The Rotary Club’s annual and arguably biggest event is the duck race. The bestof Bolton were one of the sponsors of the event, which sees hundreds of plastic ducks let loose down Bradshaw Brook the second Sunday of June. It has now been running for 20 years. The picture you can see is from a previous year.

The raffle tickets were sold by various Bolton organisations, such as Bolton Kidz Together and the 6th Bolton scouts. More than £8,000 has now been raised for charity due to the duck race this year.

There were three heats and the top 12 ducks from each one went into the grand final to be with a chance of winning £1,000. The owner of the champion duck was Chris Smith, who is the wife of the former president of the Rotary Club Alan Smith.

Last year the event couldn't run because of bad weather, so let’s hope the weather stays fine in years to come so this year spectacle can continue for many years.
