Last Tuesday (19th June), the Bolton & Bury Business Awards took place at the Reebok Stadium. It was a who's who of business in the region, with fierce competition in each category. And, we're delighted to announce that one of thebestof Bolton members took home the prestigious prize of Start Up Business Of The Year.

The Purple Property Shop, based in Astley Bridge, have been open less than two years, but have already taken on more than 300 properties for sale and rent. And this is all on the back of no experience of estate agency work by either of the directors, Matthew Jones and Sally Glennen.

The two started the business when they were trying to sell one property, and to let another. Unimpressed with the service they were offered, the two made the radical step of starting their own business and slotting into the gap in the market they had discovered.

And it has certainly worked out for the pair, with a current portfolio of around 150 properties for sale online in Bolton, Bury and Ramsbottom, a blossoming property management service, and a new member of staff to support the booming business.

Matthew said "Despite very modest beginnings, we have grown very quickly into a large, successful, profitable estate agent with a market share that is well above average."

Sally said "I was shocked whent hey announced that we had won but I'm so, so pleased. To win this award is amazing."

A huge congratulations to the two of them, and the best of luck in the future. We are privileged to be working with some amazing businesses, and they are one of them. David Ramsden, director of thebestof Bolton, said "It's great to see another member of ours winning an award and rising head and shoulders above the compettion in Bolton."
