The Gannett Foundation helps to improve lives in the many communities served by Gannett Co., Inc. and beyond. Since its inception, Gannett Foundation has given more than $150 million to thousands of charitable projects all across the United States and the United Kingdom.
The Gannet Foundation is now open for charities to apply for grants. In the past ten years, the foundation has give more than £4 million in the UK with lots of local organisations in Bolton benefiting from these grants.
This year the Foundation is looking for imaginative and ambitios projects on a bigger scale as well as the more modest application. All the projects must have the community at heart.
The Gannet Foundation grants can vary in size up to £10,000. Recently a Bolton Charity 'Harmony Youth Project' benefited from tge grants being awarded £3,392 to support its work around dance, music, creative writing and art.
The Foundation in the charity arm of Gannet Co who are the owners of Newsquest Media Group, owners of The Bolton News.
This year some of the rules have been relaxed a little to that scouting and guiding groups may apply. Anyone applying for the grants must be a registered charity and must not have had a Gannet grant within the last two years.
The foundation will not fund salaries, professional fees or day to day running costs or materials.
