One of the former giants of the advertising world, the yellow pages, has seen its profits fall dramatically in the recent years and have amassed enormous debts. At the time of writing they owe over 2.4 billion pounds to their creditors and their profits have dropped from over 7 billion pounds to 5 million pounds. Shares in the company are now only worth 0.28 pence.

Previously local businesses used to scramble to advertise in there, but now they know advertising and marketing is much more than just an advert in a book, and they need more than one marketing arm, like what the bestof does.

For more information on the financial situation at the yellow pages, have a read of this article from the business pages of the Telegraph.

All the bestof sites, including the bestof Bolton obviously, have hundreds (and in many cases) thousands of fans of Facebook and twitter. This gets the word out about local, independent companies to the target audience. The bestof hold regular events and exhibitions so local businesses can network and meet potential new customers. The bestof put up billboards around towns, produce a printed book twice a year, feature on regional media and have a newsletter then reaches over 10,000 people too. Most of these things the yellow pages don't do.

The reason that using the bestof so well is it’s about using trusted local people. We have hundreds of reviews for some businesses, so you know you can rely on them to do a good job or provide a sublime service. We take the time to get to know each member face to face and build  The bestof only take the very best businesses.
