I recently came across a charity in Bolton called Street Soccer Academy. Their focus is all about helping those vulnerable or 'at risk' individuals to make positive changes in their lives.

Street Soccer Academy works to address seven fundemental issues on behalf of their players. These are

  • Accomodation- Ensuring that their players are housed in suitable, safe accomodation and a stable base for life.
  • Physical and Mental Health- Ensuring that the players primary health needs are met and encouraging players to establish healthy lifestyles and routines.
  • Family and Community Support- Enabling players to develop and maintain relationships with family and community
  • Employment, Learning and Skills- Developing skills, learning and accreditations to enable players to enter employment.
  • Drugs and Alcohol- Challenging players to change their behaviour through positive influence
  • Finance- Ensuring that life issues are not compounded by financial difficulties.
  • Attitude, thinking and behaviour- The development and application of effective problem solving and strategies for managing difficult situations.

Street Soccer Academy have 6 regional centres based in Manchester, Salford, Bolton, Stockport, Wigan and Leigh and Forest Bank.

Street Soccer Academy take referals from many agencies and if you would like to know more about this charity, contact 01204 417846 or email info@streetsocceracademy.co.uk
