There have been some important changes to the reporting of work-related injuries and incidents under the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations 1995 (RIDDOR).

From April 2012 the requirement to report an 'over three-day' injury has been changed after a public consultation. Instead of an over three-day injury, RIDDOR now requires employers to report an over seven-day incapacitation (not including the day on which the incident happened) which means that the worker is absent or is unable to do work that they would reasonably be expected to do as part of their normal job. This must be reported within 15 days instead of the previously stated 10 days.

Employers and others with responsibilities under RIDDOR must still keep a record of all over-three day-injuries. If the employer has to keep an accident book, then this record will be enough.
