Armed Forces Day is returning to Bolton later this month. On the 29th June Boltonians will pay their respect and admiration to our armed forces, both serving and past. The new mayor of Bolton Cllr Shaw will open the day at 11am and it’s due to finish at 5pm, when the armed forces flag will be lowered.

A detailed itinerary of the day hasn’t been published. However one event planned is a tug of war organised by armed services cadets. The full programme for the day has not yet been finalised but it will involve a tug of war organised by cadets from the armed services.

In 2012 there was lots of events in Victoria Square. Charity stalls, a raffle, climbing wall and a collection of military vehicles were some of the fun filled activities on offer.

Show your support to the brave men and women in the Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Forces. These include those who have served in tours abroad and young cadets.

If you can’t make the event in Victoria Square, you can show your support in other ways. Put up flags and bunting outside your home. There are tons of other events happening across the country too, visit the Armed Forces Day Website.
