Great Places to Eat and Drink In Bolton

Bolton is full of some great choices of places to eat and drink. David and I love eating out and there is nothing better than good conversation, good food, some great wine and all taken in a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere.

Below are just some of our choices of where to go to have a good meal or just stop by for a drink and a little people watching.

Nicks 162 Chorley Old Road, Bolton, BL1 3BA

The best Steak and Mussels we have ever had, its a great venue, bustling and fun. Owner Nick Cullen opened his own restaurant in a former terraced house on Chorley Old Road and has never looked back. Our advice is book early as it can be difficult to get a table otherwise.

The Retreat 319-321 Chorley Old Road , Bolton BL1 5BP

A lovely modern and very 'grown up' wine bar and restaurant with great outdoor seating. We haven't eaten there..yet! But called in for two very lovely glasses of pinot grigio and some tasty olives. This place has great potential for a long afternoon or intimate evening.

Ashoka Indian Restaurant Bradshaw Road, Bolton BL2 3EWQ

Indian restaurant in the old crofters arms in Bradshaw. We were so pleasantly surprised at this lovely restaurant. The traditional pub exterior giving way to a sophisticated and impressive interior. The service and food was excellent and well worth a visit.

The Chinese Buffet 32 Bridge Street, Bolton BL1 2HE

My children (13 and 9) adore this restaurant. You can have a great meal here, sampling the whole range of oriental cuisine including sushi and teppanyaki as well as the traditional Chinese dishes. 'Eat until you cant eat no more!!' All for a fixed price. Not your usual run of the mill 'eat as much as you like' place, it is presented with style and class and of course delightful food.

Smithills Coaching House Smithills Dean Road, Bolton BL1 7NR

A great English restaurant with traditional local Fayre, impressive 17th Century surroundings and real ghosts I used to work here (many moons ago) so have sampled it all from front of house to staff menus and whichever you end up with you can be guaranteed a great value dining experience. Dont forget their legendary FREE cheese and fruit table. Not sure if anyone ever has room at the end though.

Latino Lounge 122 Bradshaw Brow, Bradshaw, Bolton BL2 3DD

David and I have sneaked here on many a Monday evening for a quick glass of Rioja having dropped our youngest at football practice. Makes a lovely wine bar. We have also eaten here and they do a great midweek deal on pizza or pasta.
