October Half Term and Halloween Activities in Bolton

Well summer is over and winter is approaching and October in Bolton is set to be a busy one. With October half term and Halloween all coming up soon, Bolton has so much to keep children and families busy and occupied and on Halloween this year we get an extra hour to go trick or treating as the clocks go back on 31st October 2010.

Half term in Bolton comes up at the end of October and whether it is childcare to cover the school holidays or family activities and  great  days out, Bolton has it all.

School holidays can be difficult to organise particularly when the weather is is not as warm. However there is still a great deal happening in Bolton and the good news is it doesnt need to cost the earth.

Bolton Museum have so many things happening during the holidays from Monday 25th October they have an action packed week of activities, costumed events and crafts

Monday 25 October: A visit from a Victorian Schoolteacher and traditional ‘wash day’ activities

Tuesday 26 October: A visit from a Victorian Quack Doctor and a chance to draw real Victorian medical objects

Wednesday 27 October: A visit from a Victorian Mill Worker and a chance to create your own industrial landscape

Thursday 28 October: A visit from a Victorian Policeman and a chance to make your own policeman’s helmet

Friday 29 October: A visit from 'Major Horton', Victorian Ventriloquist with Musician Richard York and a chance to make your own puppet

If you are looking for a fun day out, then Smithills Open Farm is a great way to spend an Autumn day, put on your wellies and coat and have some real fun down at the farm.

The Albert Halls, Boltons very own fantastic entertainment venue has a spectacular performance of The Snow Queen

If you are not able to take time off during the holidays then you may need childcare over the week and again Bolton has lots of great options for childcare during the October Half term.

The Octagon Theatre are holding their Active 8 October Half Term Holiday Camp where children can come along and get involved in dance, drama and design.

Bolton Arena also have some great childcare activities over the holidays ranging from a full time sports club to gymnastic sessions.

Halloween falls at the end of half term but leading up to this Bolton has some great Halloween Activities for all the family to enjoy.

Smithills Hall will be holding Vampire Week from the 26th-31st October and are holding a Vampire Day on the 26th August wit fun activiies, quizzes and prizes. There will be Halloween Spooks at Hall-ith-Wood in the early evening, getting dark and spooky! And for the adults, there is a Spooky Ghost Investigation taking place at Hall-ith-wood for over 18's only.

Smithills Open Farm are holding a Halloween Special with fancy dress, haunted trailer and tractor rides and a spooky farm trail.

If you cant get out on Halloween but want to take part in the Spooky Happenings around Bolton then tune into Bolton FM where the Luke Marsden show will be coming live from the Doffcocker Inn with a full paranormal investigation.

Well I think that is enough to keep you Bolton Families busy and active over October Half Term and Halloween in Bolton. 

Oh yes and remember that lovely extra hour in bed on Sunday 31st October as the clocks go back at 2am.
