New menu, same delicious tastes at The Capitol, Bolton.

“We’re going to the Capitol for a team lunch today” was the announcement when I got to our offices this week.

“We’re going to London?”

“No, we’re going to the Capitol in Bolton.”

Confusion over, I realised exactly where we were going. The Capitol is a gastro pub in the centre of Bolton. They have recently updated their food menu, and we were invited to try out what tasty new dishes they had to offer.

The Ultimate Messy Burger, which David had is one of the new dishes on the menu. This is a huge burger and comes with cheese, bacon, chilli, chips, fried egg and onion rings. Unsurprisingly, because of its mammoth size, David failed to eat it all, although he really wished he could.

I was sorely tempted by the Chicken Tikka Masala, which is now one of the larger options at Capitol. Along with the scrumptious chicken, rice and naan bread, the big eat option come with poppadom’s and yummy dips. I knew though if I had that, I would have to lie down for the rest of the day, which would significantly decrease my work productivity. Instead I settled for the lighter Jacket Potato with Cheese and Beans. It was nice and warm, without being too hot, and was the right mix of beans and cheese without overpowering the potato. I commented, as the others did too, that I’d left room for the mouth-watering desserts, like chocolate fudge cake.

Gaynor opted for the steak fillet baguette. Again, this was a filling meal and a very delicious one.

I really liked the range of dishes Capitol has to offer. Even at lunch time you could sample anything from fish and chips, all day breakfasts and pasta dishes to sirloin steak and cottage pie.

The picture you can see is the Mexican Burrito, another international dish the Capitol does so well.

All in all, the food at Capitol was very appetising and I’d definitely return in the future. It’s making me hungry just thinking about it. Because, thankfully, it’s easier to get to then London.
