National Personal Safety Day is happening once again on 6th October, with the aim being to raise awareness of ways to keep safe and feel confident in society.

Suzy Lamplugh went missing in 1986 and has never been found. Her parents founded the Suzy Lamplugh Trust to increase the awareness of personal safety. Find out much more on their website.

Lots of local organisations get involved, like the police, schools, neighbourhood teams and even health organisations.

The theme for this year’s event is door to door which will look at the different security issues then occur from when you leave one destination to when you arrive at another.

To help you stay safe, there are some simple tips you can follow:

1)      Avoid streets that aren’t well lit and dark alleyways.

2)      Never travel alone, always travel with at least one other person if possible.

3)      If you feel threatened move to a busy or public area, like a bar or petrol station.

4)      Never accept a lift from a stranger

Leisure Guard Security can patrol your premises 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. They can also offer mobile patrols so anyone watching will not see any pattern in your security systems. Call them on 01204 689674 to find out more.

Westwood Electrical can install security lighting on your home, so you’re not in the dark if you’re returning late on in the evening. Telephone them on 01204 689937.
