Bolton Lads & Girls Club are once again proud to be taking part in the National Citizen Service scheme, looking to build upon the great work done last year. The initiative gives young people the chance to challenge themselves, learn new skills and put something back into their local community.

By taking part in NCS, 16 year olds will have an action pack summer to remember while gaining great experience for their CV.

There are many ways to get involved in NCS:

Young people

If you’re a young person aged 16+ NCS is the opportunity for you to have fun, take part in new and exciting outdoor activities such as abseiling or canoeing, challenge yourself, make new friends and ultimately have a memorable summer holiday!

Week one – ADVENTURE

Through six days of intense outdoor activities at a residential centre in Scotland you will take part in a real adventure – overcoming barriers and taking part in fun activities to get to know your team mates.

Week two – LOVE BOLTON

In the second week, you will spend five days at Bolton University Halls of Residence getting to know your town and taking part in workshops and local activities.

Week three – ACTION

You will work with your team to plan and design a community action project to help make a positive difference to the local community.

Celebration

After completing NCS you will be invited to a graduation ceremony in October. Here you will be presented with a certificate of achievement and celebrate your success with your team mates and NCS staff/volunteers.

Volunteers

Looking to volunteer this summer? Are you looking for an opportunity that will be fun and exciting, challenging and rewarding? Then look no further – NCS has it all.

In return, you will be taking part in an exciting programme and have a hand in making a lasting difference to the lives of young people in Bolton.

Local Community

The Club is looking for organisations and businesses from the local area to help in designing and supporting projects where the young people of Bolton will volunteer to give back to their local community.

NCS will support young people to develop the skills and attitudes they need to get engaged with their communities, becoming active and responsible citizens. With local organisations involved, the young participants will be able to explore what their area has to offer and design some inspiring projects which will benefit the Bolton community.

A diverse range of organisations are required for NCS and it is truly a unique opportunity for any business in Bolton to get involved and help local young people give something back to their community.

Last year, these organisations helped 235 young people have a summer to remember:

  • Bolton Kids Together Arts Fantastic Salvation Army Wildlife Trust
  • North West Ambulance Service Bully Free Zone Fairtrade
  • Guide Dogs Coolcanvas Agapao Bolton Hospice Oxfam
