Chips, then, are a grand Northern tradition, excellent value and thoroughly enjoyable. When combined with fish they become part of a meal rich in goodness and are pleasurable to eat.
Throughout the country some folks use curry sauce to add flavour to Chips, some like mayonnaise, but the vast majority of us still prefer salt and vinegar, a word of caution though go steady on the salt. Whilst, Chips are good to eat, fish even better, if you put a lot of salt on your Chips you will increase the risk of heart problems.
The joy of eating Chips is surely the taste, the texture, the fact that they are piping hot and they fill the spot better than quick snacks, so why spoil them with salt?
