Hey Everyone. My name’s Emily, I’m 13 years old and I live with my Mum, Dad and Sister in Bolton. I like drama, music and meeting new people. I'm also interested in space, new discoveries and perhaps a career path in psychology. My favourite place in Bolton is the Octagon Theatre; the Octagon has been open since the 27th of November 1967 and is currently one of Bolton's most successful attractions. It welcomes over 150,00 people a year to it's performances and was the first professional theatre to be built in the North West of England. When I was younger my primary's annual trip was usually watching a show here - I adored every play I went to. We watched productions such as Danny Champion of the World, The Twits and James and the Giant Peach all originally written by Roald Dahl who is my favourite children's author; as quite a confident child I used to love when the actors interacted with the audience and made jokes. At Christmas time we watched Scrooge or a Christmas Carol (which I've seen about a million times as we went almost every year but it was still really good). I remember sitting next to my friends and being slightly scared of Ebenezer but of course I couldn't let anyone know that so I laughed the whole way through, even at the sad parts. I've always been interested in theatre and up until recently I wanted to be an actress, I think watching these shows inspired that, as I was always jealous of the child actors on stage because they weren't in school and could sing really well (unlike me). This lead to me being part of a show myself - a dance show in the Albert Halls with Sandham's Dance Studio, also in Bolton, which I really enjoyed. The Octagon Theatre is where many of my favourite school memories were made and I know they do a lot of good work with young people and communities. I haven't been for a while but I really want to go again soon and when I do, I know I'll be just as excited as I was the first time I went.
