Mecca Bolton's Will Clarke is set to strap on his dancing shoes as he prepares to spin, shuffle and twirl his way to Strictly Learn to Dance 2014, an annual fundraising event hosted by Bolton Hospice.
Will is emotionally devoted to the cause as he understands first-hand the invaluable care everyone at the hospice provides. Bolton Hospice provided free palliative and end-of-life care for one of Will's good friends, who passed away about three years ago.
"The work the hospice does is incredible. They provided care and comforted my friend when he needed it most," Mecca Bolton's membership manager said. "So once a year I try give back to the hospice, any way I can."
The 36-year-old from Liverpool looks forward to the challenge of learning three dance routines - to be chosen by a Touch of Class Dance Studio - with a partner over the course of 10 training sessions in as many weeks. The culmination of which takes place at the Grand Finale at Premier Suite, Whites Hotel on Saturday, 5th April.
Bolton Hospice event organiser Sally Wilson said last year's event raised about £15 000 and was a resounding success.
"Last year was a brilliant success and we hope this year is even bigger and better," said Sally. "It shows, by people challenging themselves and going out on a limb, how committed they are to helping the hospice. Without their help we wouldn't be able to give people the palliative care they need."
Each participant is trying to raise £400, the amount it costs to operate the hospice for an hour.
