It is good to see a success story about a pub doing well in a time when conditions are hard for licensees.

Town centre pubs have suffered more than most proving the theory of the survival of the fittest, the best town centre pubs are fighting back by offering many attractions, entertainments, lots of fun events, real ales, and great food. The Old 3 Crowns is going stronger than ever.

The Old Three Crowns in Deansgate, right in the middle of Bolton, is just such a success story. Long established The Old Three Crowns is a typical town centre pub, with its handsome frontage and deceptive size this is a fine hostelry in which to indulge in good food and fine ales. From the outside The Old Three Crowns looks quite small and compact, quaint even, however it boasts a comfortable lounge extended with a tasteful conservatory and a sheltered beer garden beyond, plus a smoking area. In typical ‘old pub’ style The Old Three Crowns has a rather impressive ‘olde worlde’ frontage that includes stained glass windows. The inn has undergone a facelift internally in recent times giving it a clean and fresh look without it having lost its charm.

The Old Three Crowns is the local of many Bolton regulars, but is also a magnet for passing trade, people looking for food and drink should go no further. Being so central The Old Three Crowns is ideally situated for local business people to pop in for lunch as with its great menu there is something here for everyone. There is a busy pool table that is very popular, especially after a hard day’s work, what could be better than a pleasant drink and a game of pool, accompanied by a snack or a meal before making for home?

Clearly drink is fundamental to any Public House, more so in this case. The Old Three Crowns offers some of the finest English ales available. This is a real ale fans inn, with three Cask Marque Accredited real ales including the House special Badgered pale ale, brewed by Caledonian, and two hand-pumps with guest brews from the Theakston’s brewery this is quite a treat. This is beer at its best, not manufactured formulaic thin beer but properly brewed real ale that has taste, colour, and aroma sufficient to satisfy any true beer fan.

For people looking for food there is an extensive and tasty menu from quick lunchtime snacks to more substantial meals. The pub is open seven days a week and food is available every day, including Sunday Lunches. The menu is as good as the quantities and every dish served up is produced from locally sourced ingredients.
