AFG LAW invited Canon Slade’s students to design their ‘Welcome to your new home’ card given to clients for whom AFG LAW have assisted with the purchase of a new home. They are pleased with the results and were encouraged by the positive response they received from Canon Slade when they first proposed the competition.
Orla Midgley, a year nine student at Canon Slade, produced the winning design. AFG LAW felt that the design both satisfied the brief and allowed them to use their own corporate branding without conflicting with the design. They also felt that the keys were an appropriate subject for the purpose of the card. She was presented with a Galaxy Tab 2. Orla commented that she had been sharing a tablet with her sister so now was delighted to have one of her own.
Anita Boardman, partner at AFG LAW, said, ‘We wanted to do something a little different - something which conveyed a stronger sense of community rather than a purely corporate or commercial design. We are welcoming people to their new home and we thought that if we could have a design produced from within the community it would be more sincere and have a friendlier feel to it.’
AFG LAW know how important it is to connect with the local community and to demonstrate that they are a local firm in every way possible. ‘We are approachable and keen to engage and support the community which we ourselves are part of. Canon Slade is a local school with a solid reputation and a highly recognisable part of the Bolton community - we thought they’d be an ideal partner to start with. We’d like to continue this approach of commissioning designs with other similar projects based in the community,’ added Anita.
