Let’s be Friends: Octagon theatre launches public appeal

The Octagon Theatre Bolton wants to make Friends with you! The award-winning theatre is appealing to local people to become Friends of the Octagon and generate further support for the Theatre and its work within Bolton’s communities.

In its 40 plus year history the Octagon has always been a great asset to Bolton and now it needs the people of Bolton to help continue with its success. The Theatre is seeking to make Friends and Best Friends of the people of Bolton, rewarding contributors with benefits such as drinks receptions with celebrity guests, access to Octagon produced productions, dining with the Artistic Director, and opportunities to meet the actors.

By making a donation of £100 per year benefactors will become a ‘Friend’ of the Octagon, helping to sustain and develop all aspects of the Octagon’s work. Becoming a ‘Best Friend’ by donating £1000 per year will ensure even more benefits as a benefactor and could provide the theatre with an entire youth theatre production or help improve our facilities for people with disabilities.

In addition to world-class productions in the main auditorium, the Theatre is dedicated to providing a benchmark education and outreach programme through Octagon activ8 - one of the most progressive and dynamic participation and education programmes in the country. Reaching young people throughout the region, Octagon activ8’s work helps turn around lives and empowers local young people to reach their potential through the performing arts.

David Thacker: “We are delighted to be launching this exciting and important scheme, and I am sure that the people of Bolton will get behind their theatre to ensure we continue to have the privilege of producing world-class theatre in the heart of our town. Since my arrival over a year ago, I have been amazed by the warmth and enthusiasm of the Bolton audiences and it is my overriding mission to ensure we continue to deliver theatre to match.”
