In the final part of the 3 part series, Chris Deakin discuss how much producing a business video could cost.

As one of the first companies in the UK to use digital equipment throughout,(pre-production to post production) we quickly realized that making videos and films was no longer going to be a luxury for only the 'well-funded Film and TV Studio's', but soon would become available to the masses with the whole process more accessible and affordable.

Consequently, nowadays, the first question that companies and individuals ask me is always: "How much will a video cost"?, demonstrating that with the explosion of technology and the web, for most companies, videos have become a necessity due to the almost limitless benefits they present in today's market.

The truth is there is no answer to the question until you have considered and discussed what exactly is it you want, both budget wise, and content wise, not to mention the level of production quality you wish to pursue.

Nowadays we can all make videos on our phones, which was unthinkable 15 years ago, and we all have access to video editing programs and right there you have you starter price range.  You can 'in theory' create your own video and it will cost you nothing except your time and limitations relating to video production.

To give basic examples:-

You can pay anything from £250 to £100000 + for a 30 second video.

Wow!!!£100,000 +  I hear you say. But, bear in mind it might be Helen Mirren alongside Tom Cruise in a helicopter shot over the Sahara Desert advertising an Oil company, done by a Hollywood studio.

For the Oil company….money well spent…., if they can get it to production!

The point is, everyone wants something different and specific to themselves.  It is about needs and budget, as making a professional video covers many scenarios both creatively and technically, giving a massive range relating to cost, so:-

IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT THE FIRST THING YOU DO IS SIT WITH THE VIDEO PRODUCTION COMPANY, AND DISCUSS ALL THE CRITERIA BEFORE YOU MAKE ANY DECISIONS.

They will be able to analyse the whole concept, and create a breakdown and budget for exactly what it is you need, whether a £100 video or a £100,000 + film!
