Enjoy writing, love Bolton and want to be published? At High School or College (years 7-11 at school) Well here’s your chance with our exciting competition. 

thebestof bolton wants to see your work. We’re asking you, the pupils of Bolton, to send us your blogs, written in your own style, on a subject selected from the categories below and the best 3 in each category will get prizes such as Cineworld Bolton Cinema tickets, vouchers to eat at THE Chinese Buffet Bolton, Domino’s Pizza Bolton and lots more.

So why bother? Well of course there’s the prizes and the fantastic accolade for you and your school and you will be a publishes Author BUT recently there’s been a report released to say that students in England are not as good around Literacy as some other countries and we want your help to show em that’s not the case!

The rules of the competition are very simple and all entries we think are suitable will be posted on thebestof bolton website.  

There will be 3 school year categories

School Years 7-9

School Years 10-11

College  12-13

Your blogs should be a minimum of 350 words and no longer than 500 words, not including the title.

All entries MUST send an appropriate head and shoulders photograph of yourself along with a 2-3 sentence bio about you (without this you cannot enter) and also the name of your school/college

All entries must be received by 5pm 30th November 2013 and must be sent to bolton@thebestof.co.uk If you have any questions though feel free to ring 01204 382785 or send an email to the same address.

• The judging criteria:

Entrants must be aged between 11 and 18 years of age at 30 November 2013.

Winners agreed collectively by thebestof bolton staff.

The judge’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into after the winners are announced.

There will be 3 winners from each category.

Winners names and photographs will appear on social media sites by thebestof bolton and may be used in other forms of marketing and advertising and PR

• Winners will be notified by email within 14 days of the closing date.
• Winners will be required to collect their prize in person at a suitable venue decided by thebestof Bolton and take part in appropriate PR
• (*Entries deemed inappropriate by thebestof bolton, for whatever reason, will not be posted).
