You could be taking advantage of the new ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ Scheme which was unveiled by the Chancellor in the summer statement as a way of encouraging the public to support pubs, restaurants and cafes across the UK.

What is the Eat Out to Help Out Scheme?

Businesses who register with the scheme will be able to offer a 50% discount to customers and reclaim the money from the government.

You can use the scheme to offer a discount to your customers and encourage them to eat at your restaurant.

It’s valid all day, every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 3 to 31 August 2020
You can offer a 50% discount, up to a maximum of £10 per person (inclusive of VAT), for food and non-alcoholic drinks to eat or drink in
You can claim this money back from the government
No limit on how many times customers can use the scheme
Excludes alcohol and service charges

When you register for the scheme, it’s expected that you will offer it during the whole of your opening hours on all the eligible days that you are open, and on all qualifying sales of food or drink.

Who can register?

You can register if your business sells food to eat on your premises, provides a dining area (including shared areas), and was registered as a food business with your local authority on or before 7 July 2020.

This includes:

Restaurants
Cafés
Public houses that serve food
Hotel restaurants
Restaurants and cafes within tourist attractions, holiday sites and leisure facilities
Dining rooms within members’ clubs
