Greater Manchester Police are looking for workers and volunteers who live in Bolton to join a volunteer panel.

The Independent Advisory Group is looking for 12 people to volunteer on a regular basis to help their community. You have to be able to give non biased advice, value diversity and be willing to speak to the Divisional Command Team.

The Independent Advisory Group are community representatives who meet with the police authorities or the police themselves to give advice, feedback and give a local’s perspective on policing issues. Topics discussed in previous meetings include crime and disorder concerns, specific incidents and policing policies.

Anybody can become a member of the Independent Advisory Group. You should either live or work in the area you are discussing (i.e. Bolton). All ages and backgrounds are welcome.

It is this mix and range of men and women of all ages, ethnicities, sexualities, and disabilities etc. which make the advice given to the police by IAGs so invaluable. The greater the diversity of people the more helpful feedback is generated.

If you want to get involved you must apply by April 15th.

For more information on the panel telephone Julia Wharmby on 0161 856 5505 or email her at Julia.wharmby@gmp.police.uk
