Summer is almost over, with children across the country returning to school this week. And it has been a Summer packed full of activites and events and some sports-related thing called the Olympics, which I hear was pretty good. Nowhere has this busy schedule been more pronounced than at Deryl Whittakers Northern Academy of Dance & Stage.
Deryl Whittakers has been inspiring students of all ages for over 30 years, helping them to develop careers or simply dance for fun. Housed within a beautiful stone building on Dunscar Business Park, the academy features 4000 sq ft of dance space, along with outstanding facilities. And all that space has been used this Summer, with dance classes, summer schools, and past-pupils appearing at the Olympics.
And the fun continues with the introduction of gymnastics classes. Places are being snapped up (and at just £40 for 10 weeks of classes, why wouldn't they?), but there is still room, and there is the distinct possibility of a second class. In even more exciting news, and to carry on the Olympic theme into Autumn, one of the coaches from the games is set to teach the classes.
There has also been some interest from parents of students and adults in general enquiring about classes for themselves. Should the Academy receive enough interest (and it is certainly looking like they will), then their wish shall be granted and an adult gymnastics class will be added to the already excellent programme.
