Families across Bolton are being urged to plan low cost or free activities over the summer holidays to keep costs down.

Christians Against Poverty (CAP) which has a branch based at The Bridge Church and Centre in Bolton has revealed that families can spend over £1500 trying to entertain their children during the holiday period. This figure can only increase as the weather more recently has been very wet, leading to families looking increasingly for more and more things to do inside which inevitably costs more.

Anna Wynn, Bolton CAP centre manager said that ideally she woukld recommend that families budget in advance for the long school holidays, but also recognising that this takes a lot of organisation and planning ahead. She also states that reseach shows that families are spending in the region of £1,515 on outings and treats to keep bchildren busy over the summer holidays and that a little planning would mean plenty of family fun and less expense.

The Best Of Bolton supports this recommendation from CAP and regularly features free events on our events section of the website which include museums,  free swimming, activities at the local park.
