Bolton Cancer Voices, the Choir established for cancer patients and cancer survivors is going from strength to strength with several appearances planned in the lead up to Christmas. The Choir will be starting to rehearse their Festive programme in the next couple of weeks and is keen to attract new members to swell their number.

There are no membership fees and no auditions. The Choir aspires to provide a positive and motivational environment in which members can have fun, enjoy the challenges and exhilaration of performing and have a focus aside from their illness. Organizers hope the Choir will not only have a beneficial impact on the lives of members but also be seen as a source of inspiration for others whose lives are touched by cancer. Whatever stage people are at in their cancer journey whether newly diagnosed, living with cancer as a life-limiting condition or a cancer survivor Bolton Cancer Voices would love to hear from you. There is no time limit as to how long previously people received a diagnosis to be eligible for membership so even those treated for cancer in childhood are welcome.

The Choir rehearses under the baton of Clive Rushworth, a well-known and respected Musical Director with many years’ experience. Clive takes a relaxed approach to rehearsals and ensures everyone feels comfortable no matter what their level of experience or musical ability.

Karen Elliott, Chair of the Choir said:

‘Members are having such a great time, it’s fantastic. It’s hard to believe that they’ve only been singing together for such a short period, they’re already producing a quality choral sound.

Once people get here it doesn’t seem to matter what stage they’re at in their cancer journey singing and enjoying themselves becomes the focus. Ours is a Choir like any other, the only difference being in our criteria for membership. If you’ve never sung before or perhaps have let your singing lapse during your illness or treatment why not come along and give us a try.’

For further information contact Karen on 01204 595562 or simply turn up to a rehearsal on Monday evenings, 7.30pm – 9pm at the Friends Meeting House, Silverwell Street, Bolton.
