Bolton Cancer Voices are searching for new members to join the ranks of their inspirational Choir for cancer patients and cancer survivors.
The Choir, which was established in 2012, accepts anyone who has received a diagnosis of cancer at any time. The 40-strong Choir enjoys a full programme of performances and activities, the highlight of which this year, will be their participation in the ‘Festival Of Brass And Voices’, at the Royal Albert Hall, London, in November.
Last year the Choir undertook five concerts / appearances, held workshops, a makeup masterclass and had a couple of social events.
Membership is free, no previous choral experience is required; there are no auditions to worry about and no geographical restrictions, as long as people can get to Bolton for rehearsals on Monday evenings, 7-30pm – 9pm.
Not only does the Choir bring people together to share their love of singing, enjoy new experiences and entertain others, it offers an unusual form of support for those going through treatment, moving forward following treatment or living with cancer as a non-curable condition.
Karen Elliott, Chair of Bolton Cancer Voices, said: -
‘We’d love to recruit more members and are especially short of sopranos and men; though all will be made most welcome.
It’s a very exciting year for us and we would like to share this with as many people as possible.
There is increasing research which evidences the many health benefits to singing, particularly within the social environment of a Choir. Singing is so uplifting and a great way to tune out of life’s pressures: I’d encourage everyone to give it a try and see for themselves.’
