World Book Day, Thursday 7th March, is a popular fixture in the calender, for children and adults alike. Dressing up as a story book character is a large part of the day, so make sure you have the perfect costume by paying a visit to Fancy That, Bolton.

For adults, reading is ften an escape. It can transport you to another place, another time, even another world. You can become anyone you want to be, you can play the hero or the villain, you can fall in love, rise and fall with the turn of a page.

But reading is even more important for children. It aids learning and development, teaches vital skills. In this modern world, reading and writing are vital for success, and that can all come from reading a book.

It can also be just as exciting as watching television, but exponentially more stimulating. The possibilities are endless. World Book Day seeks to promote this idea, encouraging reading and interaction with the written word.

No doubt your child's school will be celebrating the occassion with some time dedicated to the event, perhaps even the entire day. And some schools will be encouraging pupils to dress up as their favourite story-book character.

This doesn't mean you have to panic about conjuring up a great costume from thin air. Fancy That have an incredible selection available, and will no doubt have something your child will love to wear. Just pay them a visit, or give them a call.

And, if you're really brave, you adults could wear a costume representing your favourite childhood character. I will not be doing this, because for many years, my favourite book was an atlas (I led a very sheltered life).

Also, don't forget, Bolton has a great library system, including the spectacular Central Library in the town centre, as well as a number of others throughout the area. Make use of the excellent facilities we have been given, and get reading today.
