Bolton Symphony Orchestra Reveal Details Of Their Anniversary Season Performances For 2013

Bolton Symphony Orchestra is a non-profit group which significantly contributes to the cultural life of the town through music. The orchestra is a registered charity and performs in a number of concerts throughout the year. Bolton Symphony Orchestra are recommended for their high standards in peformance and positively contributing to the cultural life of Bolton.

2013 sees the organisation celebrate the 10 year anniversary of Bob Chasey becoming the Artistic Director. They've released their calender for next year with this in mind, full of celebration and great performances. Here's a rundown:

 

Saturday 26th January 2013 (7.30pm)
Victoria Hall, Knowsley St, Bolton
New Year Gala Concert (with the Halle Children's Choir, Bolton Youth Harmonies and BMS Singers)

The 2013 anniversary season opens with a combined concert in the company of the Halle Children's choir and Bolton Music Service choirs. Music by the English composer Rutter is coupled with Britten's ever popular Young Person's Guide. Something for children and adults to enjoy.

Friends Reunited

Bolton Symphony Orchestra have great pleasure in welcoming back Nigel Taylor, the founder of BSO, to conduct an eclectic mix of magnificent music.

Ten Years On

2003 was the year Bob Chasey became Artistic Director of BSO. Bob has devised a programme containing two of his favourite works to celebrate a decade of music making.

20th Anniversary Concert

BSO has a number of anniversaries during 2013. Not only is it the 25th year since forming, but also 20 years since they were formed as a permanent ensemble. This concert revisits two of the works performed at that first concert in 1993. There'll also be a hog roast.

25th Anniversary Concert

BSO staged its first ever concert in September 1988 as part of the 150th Anniversary celebrations of Local Government in Bolton. This is Bob Chasey's 'Desert Island Discs' programme (but without the sand!) featuring principal clarinet, Lynn Threadgold.

Sleeping Beauty

Continuing last season's success with Swan Lake, be spell bound as the story of Sleeping Beauty and her Prince Charming is told.
