More great news for Bolton. Our very own Bolton Museums Egyptology exhibition which is on tour in the Far East, has been nominated for a prestigious national award.

‘Quest for Immortality, The Bolton Museum Collection’ which received its one millionth visitor last week has been nominated or the International Category of the Museum and Heritage Awards.

The exhibition is now well travelled and is currently in Taiwan and will move over to China sometime in May.

Bolton Council have expressed their gratitude to Dr Carolyn Routledge who is Boltons curator of Egyptology and who has been instrumental in making the exhibition such a success.

The museum will find out if it has been successful on Wednesday 16th May at a ceremony in London.

The council expects that the exhibition will continue touring until 2014 and more than 250 objects from the Egyptology collection are touring the Far East. The actual collection is made up of over 15,000 pieces and is now seen as amongst the best museums in the world with much of the collection still on display at Bolton Museum.
