The team behind Bolton Market has been named as the best in the UK thanks to its market kitchen which promotes healthy eating and the work they do to boost visitor members.
Bolton Market which is on Ashburner Street was handed the award for 'Market Team Of The Year' by the National Association of British Market Authorities and the results were announced at their annual conference this year in Harrogate.
As well as the central Bolton market, the team also operates markets in Farnworth, Horwich and Westhoughton.
The team are proactive, working with the NHS nutritionist and celebrity chefs to encourage healthy eating.
Figures show an increased footfall in the market and improved occupancy on the stalls themselves. The number of coach bookings coming to Bolton Market has increased from 122 in 2008 to almost 250 in 210.
Westhoughton Market is also undergoing extensive change with the introduction of the monthly farmers markets and a number of more unusual stall holders such as Vintage Clothing.
