Career Pathways Success For Young People
A work skills project between O2 Bury and Bolton Lads and Girls Club has fulfilled one young person’s dream of entering the world of work and starting his journey up the career ladder.
After almost giving up hope of ever finding a permanent job, 20-year-old Daryl Hosker has just started work as a fully trained customer service advisor at O2 Bury.
And the Deane resident says he owes it all to the cooperation between O2 and the Club, where he is an ambassador.
The club’s enterprise team provides career pathways for young people, helping them acquire the skills needed to find work.
The Big Society Comes to Bolton Lads and Girls Club
Bolton Lads and Girls Club has been chosen as one of 12 pilots for the Government's new National Citizen Service programme.
About 270 places will be offered by BLGC and participants will go on a twoweek trip to build teamwork and leadership skills before returning to their communities and working on a five-week project to improve their areas.
The pilot programmes will start after the end of GCSE examinations and will culminate in National Citizen Service graduation ceremonies attended by family and friends.
Graduates of the National Citizen Service may later have the chance to take part in an International Citizen Service for 18 to 22-year-olds to help tackle poverty abroad.
