Britain’s Got Talent semi-finalists announce a variety spectacular on the first birthday of their bereavement charity.

After a successful inaugural event in 2010 to launch the bereavement charity, Jennifer, ‘Father and Son’ duo Graham and James Edgington return to the stage with a host of acts for the second annual ‘A Night for Jennifer’ fundraising event in their home town.

Taking place in Bolton on Sunday 23rd October at The Last Drop Village, ‘A Night for Jennifer’ will be a dazzling evening of good food, great music and fantastic entertainment. The evening will be hosted by Tower FM’s DJ Brooksy and will feature performances from some of the UK’s best up-and-coming talent, as well as a special performance by Graham and James, as the popular Britain’s Got Talent duo, Father and Son.

The evening will begin with a drinks reception, followed by an elegant dinner to precede an evening of over 10 superb acts – ranging from outstanding vocalists to hilarious comics – there is an act for everyone! A DJ will then ensure guests can dance away until the early hours at the Bolton venue.

The event will mark the first birthday of the charity set up by the Edgington family to help widowed fathers and their children. The charity, Jennifer, helps others with some of the hardships they had faced as a result of their own experiences with the loss of a loved one. Graham and James lost Jennifer Edgington, a wife and mother in 1985 when James was only 16 months old. Coping with the loss of a wife as well as the care of a baby is more than most people could have dealt with and Graham recalls this as one of the most challenging times in his life.

Graham Edgington said:

“It was an incredibly difficult time for James and I after Jennifer passed away, it felt as though I was carrying the world on my shoulders and doing simple everyday tasks seemed like the most challenging things in the world. I had suddenly found myself as a single parent caring for a 16 month old baby while working full time and also trying to find the time to grieve, it was overwhelming but I knew I had to pull myself together to ensure that James and I would be alright in the future.

“It is wonderful to see, a year on from the launch of the charity, that we now have fundraising events in London as well as our home town of Bolton. With the tremendous support of the various acts and venues, we will put on two fantastic nights of entertainment and hope to raise much-needed funds in the process.”

This year would have also been Jennifer’s 50th birthday, so this event holds extra importance to the family and supporters of the charity.

A huge boost for the charity has been the addition of a second date for ‘A Night for Jennifer’  at the Lyric Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue, London on Monday 31st October, Graham and James will host a gala fundraising event with stars from the London stage.

All profits from both events will go directly to the Jennifer Charity to help widowed fathers and their children.
